The products you have in the kitchen are an inexhaustible source of inspiration. They can help you replace expensive conventional cosmetics with questionable formulations. One of them is beer, discover what it can do for your hair.

Commercial hair sprays and fixatives contain petroleum-based ingredients that are not completely safe for health and the environment. You can replace them with beer, preparing a spray with it that will help you fix your hairstyle and also to protect your hair from the sun and air.

Hair styling with the natural ingredient is quick and easy. The fear of the smell of beer is unfounded, because once it has been dried on the hair, it no longer gives off any aroma. In addition, we are going to use beer without alcohol.

BEER AS A HAIR FIXING AGENT

Beer is a proven traditional home remedy to strengthen and nourish hair. While conventional lather and hairspray dry hair and attack the scalp in the long term, beer provides many important nutrients for a healthy scalp and structure. Furthermore, it does not leave any white or dry residue on the hair, as with many commercial products.

Follow these steps to use beer as a substitute for conventional fixative:

  • Wash or wet your hair as usual.
  • Depending on the length of the hair, pour between 50 and 100 milliliters of beer from the middle of the hair to the tip and distribute it well. Prevent it from reaching the roots of the hair so that it does not get too squashed. If you wish, you can add a few drops of lemon to the beer before spraying it.
  • Comb your hair, shape it, and you’re good to go.

As soon as the hair is dried, the hairstyle sets and the smell of beer disappears completely. The natural beer-based hair fixative adds shine and highlights the curls, which will be more elastic and voluminous.

It is advisable to use non-alcoholic beer because, unlike alcoholic beer, the smell of malt predominates in non-alcoholic beer.

Beer can also be used as a strong hairspray. You can increase the fixing effect by adding honey.

Ingredients:

  • 250 ml of beer (preferably non-alcoholic)
  • half a teaspoon of honey
  • half a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar

Elaboration:

  1. Slightly heat the beer in a pot (be careful not to boil).
  2. Add the honey until it dissolves in the beer.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat, add the vinegar and stir everything well.
  4. Let the mixture cool, pour it into a spray bottle.

HOW TO USE HOMEMADE FIXING HAIRSPRAY

  • You can spray this strong hold on your hair while you style it. Keep in mind that once it has dried you will no longer be able to comb it because you would remove the protective film.
  • To get more volume, spray your hair with your head upside down.
  • It’s best to store natural hair spray in the fridge and use it within three days.

PROPERTIES OF BEER TO CARE FOR HAIR

Beer is suitable as a fixing agent thanks to the malt from which it is made. It is also a popular ingredient in skin, hair, and nail cosmetics because it is a rich source of nutrients.

It contains iron, zinc, silicon and vitamins B5 and B6, which play an important role for the hair. They promote better blood circulation in the scalp, the absorption of other nutrients and the formation of healthy cells.

Thanks to its slightly acidic pH value, beer softens the hair structure as the scales of the outer layer build up. Beer is ideal to use as a last rinse to add shine and against hair loss. It also helps make the mane easier to style and prevents the hair from becoming brittle.

To strengthen the hair structure:

  • Rinse long hair that is prone to split ends with beer and water.
  • Curly hair will benefit from a mask made from beer, oil, lemon juice, and egg yolk.
